Urs Fischer, the ephemeral art experience
Did you miss the first work presented in the rotunda during the opening of the Musée de la Bourse de Commerce in Paris? Here is the opportunity to discover this incredible ephemeral work, full of meaning. It was the work Untitled, 2011 by the Swiss artist Urs Fischer composed of a monumental candle, a life-size replica of The Rape of the Sabine Women by Giambologna, surrounded by 7 different chairs and the effigy of the artist Rudolf Stingel. The whole was lit on the first day and gradually burned down until the closing of the exhibition.
What remains of an ephemeral work? Nothing, if we consider that only the palpable counts.
Many, on the other hand, if there remains an intimate moment engraved in the memory. There also remains a whole literature relayed by the media, which encourages us to think that in the future, it would be unthinkable to miss such an event.
At Atelier Cire, we believe that burning one of our candles is a motivated, meaningful act.
